38 Sierra VOG-17 UAS Dropped Munition
Inert Training Aid Specifications:
Length: 201mm
Width: 34mm
Weight: 338 Grams
Lethal Radius: 0 Meters
This is an inert replica of a VOG-17 High Explosive 30mm Grenade that has been modified for use as an improvised UAS dropped munition commonly observed in Ukraine.
See the Technical Data Sheet below for more information about this munition.
This training aid replicates a regularly observed modification where the fuze of the VOG-17 is partially disassembled and an improvised plunger assembly is installed. The 3D printed tail assembly is also a commonly observed modification and helps the munition to fall in a nose down attitude when it is released from a UAS.
The VOG-17 UAS dropped munition is best employed to engage personnel, unarmored vehicles, and structures that have not been hardened.
What can I use this for?
This item is appropriate for classroom instruction, hands on training, scenario based field exercises, and training lanes.
Example Scenarios:
Response to UAS Flyover Scenario 1: A UAS overflying the area was observed to have dropped an unknown item. Dispatch personnel to locate and report the dropped item.
(Suggested Employment: Place the training aid in a location that corresponds with the flight path of the reported UAS. Surface lay the training aid on hard surfaces such as pavement or partially bury nose down in a soft surface such as a grass field to simulate impact.)
Response to UAS Flyover Scenario 2: Detonations were reported in the area at the same time a UAS was reported to be flying flying in the area. Dispatch personnel to locate any damage from the reported detonations and to be on the lookout for any additional unexploded ordnance.
(Suggested Employment: Place the training aid in a location that is nearby the reported detonation. Surface lay the training aid on hard surfaces such as pavement or partially bury nose down in a soft surface such as a grass field to simulate impact.)
Response to Downed UAS Scenario: A UAS operating in the area was successfully engaged with a Counter UAS system and has landed/crashed in the immediate area. Dispatch personnel to locate the downed UAS and to report any additional items that may be attached to or located nearby the UAS that might have detached as a result of the crash.
(Suggested Employment: Attach training aid to the UAS being used for this scenario or place the training aid nearby the downed UAS/ UAS wreckage.)
